This is an exciting role where every day is different and presents with new challenges. The work is varied and fast paced within a hugely supportive team. The wider team includes social workers, social care assessment officers and two managers who are always on hand to provide support and guidance.
As a contact officer, work is carried out via the telephone and the role is office based. Our office hours are 8am to 5pm, staff use a rota to alternate start and finish times to ensure that all hours are covered.
Communication is a key skill required, both verbal and in writing, as is a knowledge of IT systems, however full training in our IT systems will be provided. You need to be able to record accurately and concisely and be able to follow procedures and guidance.
The work can be challenging and may involve talking with vulnerable people as their first point of contact. The ability to screen and triage calls, make decisions, and ensure satisfactory outcomes is crucial as is the ability to maintain good working relations with colleagues and external partners and stakeholders.
As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
